Dr. McGrady understands that choosing the right dentist for your child is so important. Easing your child into the dental office and dental experience can make all the difference in trying to avoid dental anxiety from which so many adults suffer. We offer kids choices and slowly introduce new sounds and smells. We continually communicate with the parents, and when needed, consult with your pediatrician or orthodontist, to develop a plan that offers the best treatment for your child.
With 25 years of experience in general dentistry and 10 of those exclusively in pediatric dentistry, Dr. McGrady has the unique ability to offer high-quality dental care to your entire family. The state-of-the-art office offers many treatment options available to help kids have a positive dental experience. From I-pads and a special reading nook waiting for you in the reception area to ceiling TVs in the treatment rooms, there is something to help everyone feel comfortable.
Dr. McGrady received her dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. She continued her education at the University of Iowa, studying Hospital Dentistry and obtaining extra training to treat children with special needs. She also received a Master’s Degree in Dental Public Health to gain a perspective on improving the oral health of a community, not just the individual.
Dr. McGrady, and her husband, Dr. Michael Spilotro, practiced dentistry together in Santa Fe, New Mexico for ten years. In 2008, they relocated to San Diego and Dr. McGrady continued her education with UCLA and Rady Children’s Hospital. She completed a residency in pediatric dentistry in 2011. Dr. McGrady continues to practice at Rady Children’s Hospital and is currently the Chief of the Dental Section. She provides expert care for patients with extensive dental needs and special healthcare needs.
After five years of practicing pediatrics, Dr. McGrady decided to combine all of interests under one roof. In 2016, she opened McGrady Dental Group in Poway. Her goal is for the practice to be the dental home for your entire family. Kids are comfortable and do not have to graduate out of the practice when they are 16. Parents and Grandparents can get their teeth cleaned at the same time as the kids and take advantage of all of the same comforts. Being a new, modern office, it was designed with special needs patients in mind. There is ample parking and access to help someone in a wheelchair get into the office.
As a family practice, Dr. McGrady and Dr. Spilotro have the opportunity to practice together again. Dr. Spilotro is available for patients with periodontal concerns or in need of dental implants.
We hope your family can feel welcome and comfortable at McGrady Dental Group.
